The stakes are absolute: if Yukine doesn't truly repent, he will transform into a monster and kill everyone inside the barrier. If the ritual fails, the Regalia performing it may also be stained or killed. A Cry for a Human Life

Hiyori, the human girl caught between their worlds, realizes Yato is on the brink of death. She carries his freezing, semi-conscious body to the temple of Kofuku and Daikoku. To save Yato, they must perform a ritual called —a grueling trial where three other Regalia must trap the sinner in a triangular barrier and force them to confess their crimes.

It is only when Hiyori screams at him, reminding him that and that Yato has been dying just to keep him, that Yukine’s heart finally breaks. He realizes that by hurting Yato, he is destroying the only person who truly "saw" him and gave him a name. Redemption

With those words, the blight begins to recede. The physical manifestations of his sins vanish, and Yato’s body begins to heal. Yato, barely able to speak, calls out Yukine's name—not as a weapon, but as a person. The bond is restored, and for the first time, Yukine truly accepts his place by Yato's side, choosing to be a "Name" worth protecting.

By this point, the blight has spread across Yato’s entire body, turning his skin into a bruised, decaying mess. He is so weak he can barely walk, yet he refuses to release Yukine, knowing that if he does, Yukine will become a mindless phantom forever. The Ablution

Based on the events of that specific episode, here is the story of Yato’s struggle for survival and Yukine’s painful redemption: The Weight of Sin

Yato is dying. For weeks, his teenage spirit weapon, Yukine, has been acting out—stealing, harboring dark thoughts, and lashing out in frustration at being dead. In the world of Noragami , every time a Regalia sins, their master is "stung" by a physical blight called . Because Yato is a minor god with no shrine, he has endured this pain in silence, unwilling to abandon the boy he chose.

Through tears, Yukine finally confesses: "I'm sorry! I stole the money! I broke the windows! I was jealous of the living!"
