The track is widely celebrated as a masterclass in 1990s sampling, fusing multiple classic rhythms and melodies.

Released on August 18, 1994, is the signature hit by Jamaican artist Ini Kamoze . Blending reggae, dancehall, and hip-hop, the track became the first dancehall song to reach #1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 , where it remained for two weeks in December 1994. The song's title refers to a "hotstepper," which in Jamaican Patois signifies a man on the run from the law. Key Production & Sampling
